In the Wild

As today’s wildlife faces unprecedented challenges, the wildlife photographer has the opportunity to act as chronicler as well as advocate. With extreme patience and dedication photographers have the ability to present images of such striking natural beauty that they have been able to influence lawmaking and future human behavior. Many have dedicated their lives to this. All in the power of an image…
From insects to big game, from songbirds to salamanders, we are looking for your photographs, taken anywhere in the world, of wildlife in their habitat. |

Juror: Dave Watts
The Juror for this exhibit is Australian based conservationist and photographer Dave Watts, who has been published by National Geographic, BBC Wildlife, Geo (Germany), Geo (Australia), Australian Geographic, Airone, Nature Australia, and many other publications. By going beyond the ordinary to get his shots he has created beyond ordinary images that capture the entire feeling of atmosphere (and I mean sounds and air temperature!) surrounding his subject!
"When evaluating a series of photographic images I am looking for a sense of a shared experience through the beauty and composition of the subject. Lighting is extremely important and can make or break an image. To hold the attention of the viewer the image needs to be technically correct, that is correctly exposed with the important details such as eyes being sharp. All these various criteria can come together to create an image with the quality of a masterpiece in oil." Dave Watts |
